Tony “Wallstreet” Ortiz lives in Nashville, TN where he performs, records and teaches drums.
Born in the Bronx, New York, he was exposed to music at a very early age. His passion for rhythm started out on his mother’s pots and pans. Through radio and MTV music videos, he found himself immediately influenced by Pop, Hip-Hop, Latin and Rock music and upgraded beyond pots & pans to a second-hand snare drum and ride cymbal. When most kids are more concerned about their license to drive, Tony got his first drum set at 16 and began taking lessons with Joel Rivera (Grupo Xtreme) at Bronen’s Music in the Bronx.
An avid learner, Tony continues to take stretch his rhythmic muscles by taking lessons with some of the world’s most respected professional drummers. These drummers include but are not limited to: Gil Sharone (Stolen Babies, Dillinger Escape Plan, Marilyn Manson), Ken Schalk(Candiria, Fuel, Mister Sparx), Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, Soilwork, Scarve) as well as courses held at New York City’s Drummers Collective.
